It's going to hard to get any place during that time frame, because those places are usually rented out a year in advance.  Best take what ever you can get the city to agree too.  Those dates are prime dates for tourism in this area.

Friday, July 12th at the "Commons" is perfect for me ~ I will be in Marquette at that time.

Which ever the majority wants...I'm flexible.

Karen, if you get too cold I have a hunter's insulated bag with arms and a hood you can use. LOL. cheeky Keeps me nice and toasty in the winter woods hunting. Of course, I'll be in my side by side taking a nap. Not much interested in shooting a deer any longer. Still like to see them though.

SAVE THE DATE!!!

Our summer picnic will be Friday, July 12th from about 3:30-8 p.m. at Marquette Commons.  This will be a BYO food/drinks but I will ask for donations of about $5-10/person to cover the rental cost for the Commons.

I've also invited our fellow 1965 alums from Baraga so, once again, all 1965 graduates will be in one place at the same time!

I'll keep you posted on our plans for the summer.

Hi Pat,

Doesn't really matter to me as I have to travel 2000 mi for it :-)  However, I am thinking of making my trip to Marquette next summer with my son, Derrick.  He hasn't been there since he was in Jr High...he just turned 40!  I'd like him to see the 4th of July festivities.  So....may have to miss the picnic.  We shall see how things go.

Michael John Miller

Harvey, MI – Michael John Miller, age 71, of Chocolay Township, lost his battle with brain cancer on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was born December 14th, 1946, in Lansing, Mi. He was the first born of Kenneth and Jeanne (Miller) Miller. He was a graduate of Marquette Senior High School, Class of 1965.

Mike enlisted into the Marine Corp in June of 1965 and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. Upon completion of boot camp, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Mary Alma Iery on October 30, 1965. He was honorably discharged from the armed services in 1969. Mike was so proud to be a Marine and to be a Veteran. He used the GI Bill to attend Barber School in Detroit. Upon completion, he worked as a barber along side his father who owned “Ken’s Barber Shop” in Marquette. Mike also worked construction and was working as a millwright when he was hired at Presque Isle Power Plant. Mike worked there for nearly 30 years until his retirement in 2009.

Mike loved country line dancing, playing pickleball, lapidary work, silversmithing, and hunting and fishing. He hunted his early years with his buddy Skip VanBuren and later with his close friends Bill Amundson, and Ed Toune. They were forever in search of that “trophy buck”. He loved ice fishing, always going to the Big Bay Derby with his brother-in-law, John Iery, His nephew and friend Luke Johnson and his son-in-law Mike Milkey. The stories from the derby days were often brought up whenever they got together. He was also a member of Marquette Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 405.

To Mike, family was everything, he was so proud to be a father and a grandfather. To his grandchildren he was “Bepa” and loved that nickname. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 53 years, Mary; his children, Mindy (Dan) Flanigan of Marquette, Michael "Chum" (Mike Dalebroux) Miller of Green Bay, WI, and Maradie (Mike) Milkey of Marquette; four grandchildren, Madeline and Ty Milkey and Conor and Hunter Flanigan; his brothers and sisters, Pat Miller of Marquette, Jan (Bob) Rial of Eaton Rapids, MI, Ken (Cherry) Miller of Escanaba, Kim Koenig of Marquette, and Tim (Lisa) Miller of Marquette and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Paul Koenig.
The family would like to thank Dr Christopher Dehlin, Dr Sonia Geschwindt and Dr Sheetal Acharya for their care and compasion.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at his home on Saturday November 10, 2018 starting at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lake Superior Hospice Association, 914 W. Baraga Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855.

The Fassbender Funeral Home is serving the family, where condolences may be expressed online at fassbenderfuneralhome.com
