Skip gave me permission to post the following:

I talked to Skip today.  He's now home from the hospital after spending 40 days as an inpatient and in the rehab unit.  He has very little memory of those 40 days he was so sick.  Skip's daughter was at his house when he collapsed and was able to get immediate assistance.  He said the doctors told him the problem was caused by ibuprofen which he was taking after having kidney stones removed.  Apparently, the ibuprofen ulcerated his small intestine and he needed immediate surgery to repair it. The doctors said things were touch and go for awhile.

Skip's 3 daughters are taking turns caring for him (including one commuting from Green Bay).  His son from GB has also visited.  He took his first walk outside today using his walker and being assisted by his daughter.  Although still weak, he said he's feeling stronger every day and looking forward to getting back to normal.  He said you wouldn't recognize him because he's lost about 35 pounds since his ordeal began.

He appreciates all the calls and visits he's received.

I just sent out a holiday newsletter. Bruce Hayry's email bounced back. I discovered that Bruce died March 28, 2020 in Spencer, Wisconsin.  We're sad to lose another classmate.

Here's his obituary:

So sad to hear we have lost yet another class member.  I pray for the rest of us and our families for good health and happiness in the coming year.  Happy Holidays to all and a safe and healthy New Year!!

I am wondering if anybody has seen Pat McCombie Robb.  I have not been able to contact her in over a year.  I have tried the kids, written letters and even sent a questionnaire with a stamped and self-addressed envelope.  I worry about her.

Hope to see everyone for #55!!!  God bless you all.

~ Karen

Hi, all. Sorry I haven't been on for so long. No excuses, just lazyyyyy.

I have decided I am not following through with the assault case. Not worth the time . We will all get our just "reward in the end. Besides, they plea-bargain everything down to misdemeaners anyway.

Really sorry to hear about Bruce. He was a good guy.  Haven't spoken with Skip in quite a while either. I'll give him a call in a day or two.

I've been pretty busy with my cousin's church pulling stumps and moving earth for them. Had fun on my kubota this summer & fall. It's the most hours I put on it. I've had it for three years now and I have all of 65.5 hours on it. Really getting a workout. Lol

Wishing all a very merry Christmas and a joyous AND healthfull new year!!!!

As mentioned in the newsletter, Jackie Hassel had a major stroke in late August.  She is recovering but it may take some time to get back to her old self.

Skip called last evening. He's been doing well, even getting out trapping again. He did say not much in the animal population though.

Condolences to Skip VanBuren and family.  Skip's ex-wife but still best friend, Linda Skoog, died yesterday of cancer.

I also found out that Skip was in a bad car accident in January.  Between his near-death experiences last summer and being banged up in the accident, Skip has really dodged some bullets.  He says you won't recognize him at the reunion.

Talked with Skip today. He's been very lucky. And had some rough times.

 Thanks, Pat, for the help.

Update on Jackie Hassel:   I talked to Jackie today.  Following her stroke, she continues to improve although progress is slow.  She's working on her speech and memory, and is still in physical and occupational therapy.  She said she can't write because of tremors in her hands but call talk on the telephone or receive texts.  She's looking forward to seeing everyone at our reunion this summer.  Her phone number is 231-679-8489.
