Dottie Iery and Dawn L'Huillier are cousins to me. Dot's Mom and mine were sisters. Berry clan.

Brings back good memories....long stored away.

All are of French-Canadian ancestry. My Dad's side goes back to Northern France to 1645. I have a folder from a cousin, but, it's all in french and my folks never taught me  any french, so, I can't read it. (DANG).

My condolences to Gloria's family. May GOD ease your pain at this time.

Paul Yoder, Bob Belmore, Charlie West, Steve Smith - do you remember this event?  This is from the Mining Journal - 60 years ago.

MARQUETTE — Nearly 300 Whitman School boys and their fathers attended the annual “Lad and Dad” supper at the school Monday evening. The affair was sponsored by the Whitman Parent-Teacher association. The entertainment featured a group of Indian Ceremonial dances put on the the Order of the Arrow Indian dance team led by Milo Gonser, a Northern Michigan College student from Newberry. The team, a group of older Boy Scouts, is composed of Don Smith, Bob Belmore, Lonn Lytikainen, Charles West, Paul Yoder, and Steve Smith. Preceding the dance numbers, the meeting was opened by Boy Scout Troop 359, which is sponsored by the Whitman PTA and is under the leadership of Kenneth Pierson. The dinner and program arrangements were made by a committee of the mothers of sixth graders.

Pat, I don't remember that specific event but I do remember being a member of the Order of the Arrow Indian Dance Team. Once we performed on WLUC TV for the March of Times Telethon.

It is with great sadness I tell you of my sister Linda's passing yesterday.  She battled MS for many many years and in the end it won.  She went peacefully with the whole family around her.  I was able to visit with her last weekend and share some laughs from our childhood.  She will be deeply missed by many but is in such a better place.  I feel like an orphan now, but have many friends around me who have been my family for many years.  I am blessed.

Mark your calendars - we're having another summer picnic.  It'll be on Friday, July 7th from 4-8 at Marquette Commons.  It's BYO with alcohol allowed.  Bring your lawn chair.  So far, it looks like we might have a few more out-of-state classmates who plan to attend.  Don't let this picnic pass you by - especially if you're living in the Marquette area.  Keep me posted on your plans at pnevala47@gmail.com.

Classmate Mason Pearce passed away Thursday, June 22nd. I also noticed that Fred Taccolini died on the 19th.  Condolences to both families.

If you haven't looked at 50th reunion photos recently, you will see several of Mr Taccolini and one with Mason.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Mr Taccolini.  He was one of my favorite teachers.  I clearly remember sitting next to David Dooley, in the auditorium, listening to one of his lectures.

Pictures from the picnic on 7-7-23 have been posted to the Class Picnic Photos gallery (link on left).  There are several classmates who didn't get in any pictures.  If you took some, please forward to me.  Maybe they will include ones I missed.

It was another very successful picnic.  The weather was great, the food was delicious and the conversation was lots of fun.  Thanks to all who came!
